Whenever possible, we ask our clients to allow access to their EMRs. It makes it easier for rtNOW Agents to look up patient information, and record new data.
As you can imagine, not all EMRs are alike. And not all security procedures are alike. Some clients require us to sign our agents up for their EMR training. And once trained, while we prefer a simple User/Login for a EMR website, there are times where a client requests a “token” (a piece of hardware with a continuously changing code on it that is physically mailed to you), or even that we access it via VPN (virtual private network – a way of using software to combine your network and their internal networks into one). Even remote desktop has been used in combination from time to time (a way of remotely seeing the screen of a computer at another location).
Depending on your what state you are licensed in, your training needs will vary. You will receive separate, facility specific courses and/or instruction for your unique EMR needs.
